Bret Schwartzhoff Named Maruho Medical SVP Sales & Marketing

As senior vice president of sales and marketing, Schwartzhoff will be in charge of the company’s growth initiative as well as growing the company’s technology platforms in “soft tissue repair for sports medicine and orthopedic surgery.”

In Schwartzhoff’s 25-year career he has gained ample senior commercial leadership experience across a range of medical device markets including sports medicine, spine, gastroenterology, and general surgery. For the past year, he has been utilizing that experience to serve companies as a medical device commercial executive/independent consultant.

Prior to joining Maruho Medical, Schwartzhoff spent over six years with Austin, Texas-based Apollo Endosurgery, Inc. as vice president of North America sales and global marketing. Apollo Endosurgery develops therapeutic endoscopy devices used in the treatment of gastrointestinal conditions.

Schwartzhoff joined Apollo Endosurgery from Austin, Texas-based ArthroCare Corporation (acquired by Smith & Nephew, plc) where he was vice president of marketing, sports medicine and vice president sales and marketing, spine. Prior to ArthroCare, he held a number of senior leadership positions with Zimmer, Boston Scientific, and Johnson & Johnson.

Schwartzhoff holds a Master of Business Administration from Wake Forest University. He also holds a Bachelor of Science from Minnesota State University.
